Description

Perlite Insulating Castable

Material System & Positioning

Perlite insulating castable uses expanded perlite aggregate with bulk density only 0.60 g/cm³, thermal conductivity ≤0.20 W/(m·K) at 500℃ and service up to 900℃. Extremely light and economical with simple on-site casting, it is Henan Songrui's cost-effective grade for boiler back-end ducts, pipes and equipment shell insulation.

Key Performance

  • Extremely light: 0.60 g/cm³, negligible load on equipment.
  • Low thermal conductivity: effective insulation.
  • Economical: low cost for large low-temperature insulation.
  • Easy installation: monolithic casting adapts to complex surfaces.
  • Limited temperature: max 900℃, never in direct flame or slag contact.

Applications

  • Power Boilers: back-end flue ducts, economizer zone insulation, fan casing insulation.
  • Industrial Piping: hot gas and flue ducting, equipment shell insulation.
  • Chemical: tank and reactor shell insulation.
  • General: low-temperature equipment insulation.

Selection Advice

Perlite grade suits insulation below 900℃ only, never flame contact. For higher temperatures choose ceramsite, lightweight high-alumina or mullite grades for safety.

Installation & Maintenance

Mix and pour gently to avoid perlite aggregate breakage; heat up slowly per the low-temperature curve.

Quality Assurance

Key Features

  • Expanded perlite aggregate, low density and economical
  • Low conductivity for large-area low-temperature insulation
  • Simple cast-in-place installation
  • For boiler back-end flues, ducts and outer-shell insulation
  • Lower cost than dense or lightweight high-alumina grades
  • Limited service temperature; never direct flame contact

Typical Applications

Perlite lightweight castable uses expanded perlite, ultra-light:

  • Power Boilers: boiler walls, ducts, ESP insulation.
  • Petrochemical: heater wall insulation, tank and hot pipe insulation.
  • Steel & Iron: hot blast stove shell insulation, chimney linings.
  • General: insulation of medium-low temperature furnaces and equipment.
  • Advantage: very low density (≤0.6 g/cm³), extremely low thermal conductivity, service up to 1000℃.

FAQs

How light is perlite castable?

Density as low as 0.4-0.6 g/cm³, among the best insulators, but lower strength.

Temperature limit?

About 1000℃; above this the perlite aggregate sinters and shrinks.

Applications?

Boiler walls, ducts, hot piping and tank insulation where light weight matters.
